Use Receivo with Claude and ChatGPT

Connect your Receivo account to Claude or ChatGPT and ask about your business in plain words: who owes you money, what came in this month, what is on a particular invoice. With your permission it can also add clients and draft invoices for you to review. It never sends anything or touches a payment.

Connector URL

This is the address you give Claude or ChatGPT. You need a Receivo account to finish connecting. Create one free.

Approving the connection

Both assistants send you to a Receivo page to approve access. Sign in if asked, check which app is asking, and click Allow access. You never type your Receivo password into Claude or ChatGPT.

By default the connection is read-only. To let the assistant add clients and draft invoices, tick Also let it create things for you before you click Allow access. You can change your mind later by disconnecting and connecting again.

Things to ask

  • “Which of my invoices are overdue, and how much am I owed in total?”
  • “How much did I get paid this month?”
  • “Show me the last five invoices I sent.”
  • “What is on invoice INV-0042?”
  • “Add a new client: Sarah Khan, sarah@khanbuilders.co.uk, Khan Builders.”
  • “Make a draft invoice for Sarah Khan: 2 days labour at 250, plus 180 for materials, 20% VAT.”

Before it creates an invoice, the assistant should read the lines, tax and total back to you and wait for a yes. If a client does not exist yet it will ask for their details first, rather than guess.

What it can do

The connector gives the assistant these seven tools. The two create tools only work if you ticked the box when approving.

  • List invoicesRead

Your invoices, newest first. Can filter by status (draft, sent, paid, overdue, processing).

    list_invoices

  • Get one invoiceRead

One invoice by its number, with every line item.

    get_invoice

  • List overdue invoicesRead

Unpaid invoices past their due date, how late each one is, and the total outstanding.

    list_overdue_invoices

  • Revenue summaryRead

Paid, outstanding and overdue totals, split by currency. Can start from a date.

    revenue_summary

  • List clientsRead

Your clients, alphabetically. Can search by name or email.

    list_clients

  • Create a clientCreate, if allowed

Adds a new client. Refuses if a client with that email already exists.

    create_client

  • Create an invoiceCreate, if allowed

Creates a new invoice for an existing client, saved as a draft. It is not sent.

    create_invoice

What it cannot do

  • Send an invoice, or email or message your clients
  • Take, refund or move any payment
  • Change your plan, billing or payment settings
  • Edit or delete an invoice, a client or anything else
  • See any Receivo account other than your own

Invoices it creates stay as drafts in Receivo until you open them and send them yourself. It works with the same permissions you have when you sign in, and your plan's limits apply as they do in the app.

Your data and disconnecting

Whatever the assistant looks up in Receivo is passed to Claude or ChatGPT so it can answer you, and from there it is covered by Anthropic's or OpenAI's privacy policy. Receivo keeps a record of the connection and a log of which actions were used, never the content of your invoices or your chats. The full detail is in section 5 of our Privacy Policy.

To disconnect, open Receivo and go to Settings → AI Connections. Access stops straight away.

If something is not working

The assistant says my Receivo connection has expired when I ask it to create something.
Your connection is read-only. When you approved it, the "Also let it create things for you" box was left unticked. Disconnect it in Receivo under Settings → AI Connections, connect again, and tick the box this time.
I disconnected, but the assistant still shows Receivo as connected.
Access stops the moment you disconnect, but the assistant only notices the next time it tries to use Receivo. That request is refused. You can remove Receivo from the assistant as well.
A tool listed here does not show up in my assistant.
Assistants remember the tool list from when you first connected. Remove Receivo from the assistant and add it again to load the current list.
The assistant says it checked Receivo, but the answer looks out of date.
Assistants sometimes answer from earlier in the same conversation instead of asking Receivo again. Start a new chat and ask again.
It will not create another invoice or client.
Free plan limits apply here exactly as in the app: 3 clients, and 3 invoices per month. Upgrade under Billing in Receivo to remove them.
